A computer consists of many physical components such as Motherboard, Processor (CPU), CPU cooler, RAM (IC Memory), ROM (IC Memory), Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid-State Drive (SSD), Power supply (PSU), Case cooler, Graphics Card etc.
But the computer has three basic parts. There are Input/Output, CPU (Center Processing Unit) and Memory.
The memory includes RAM (Main memory), ROM for only reading purpose, auxiliary memory devices such as Hard Disk Drive (HDD), Solid-State Drive (SSD), CD-ROM etc.
The memory is constructed using two types of materials. There are MOS (Metal Oxide Semiconductor) type and Bi-polar type
MOS (Metal Oxide Semiconductor):
Properties:
- Low operating speed
- high integration capacity
- low power consumption
Bi-polar:
Properties:
- high operating speed
- low integration capacity
- high power consumption
